About the Ardsley PTSA

Our Purpose

The Ardsley PTSA is a 501(c)(3) organization that brings together parents, educators, students and members of the community. Our mission aligns with the National PTA mission of Every Child, One Voice®. Together, our goals are to be:

  • a powerful voice for all children
  • a relevant resource for families and communities
  • a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child

Through collaboration we strive to:

  • Connect the school community and keep families up to date with events and activities within our schools.
  • Fundraise to enhance existing programs, add valuable new programs and provide technology resources.
  • Advocate for best practices locally and at the state level and partner with neighboring school districts.
  • Sponsor activities and events for the entire community.
  • Recognize the contributions of our students, staff and parents and encourage innovation and individuality.

Our Executive Board meets monthly to review budgets, vote on classroom grant requests, and provide updates on PTSA committee and school activities.

What we support

Advocacy

With the funds raised from your membership and special events throughout the year, we are able to support a variety of programs and activities for our students. For example:

Each year we set a budget for the principals of Concord Road, AMS and AHS to supplement needs for the school year.

Our funds also help fill in the gaps for families who need additional support with school supplies, snacks and school activities.

With the addition of a new VP of Special Education, we are working hand-in-hand with the new Ardsley Special Education PTA to advocate for equitable access for all students in the Ardsley school district.

Teachers are also invited to apply for specific grants for their classrooms. Last year, with earmarked grants we:

  • Sent high school students to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association
  • Furnished the new Mindfulness Nook at the Ardsley Middle School Library
  • Purchased a printer for the Literary Arts Magazine
  • Funded a music recording session for special education students
  • Provided scholarships to support senior externship programs
  • Purchased whiteboards and headphones for the World Language Department
  • and much, much more.

Education and Enrichment

Through our Diversity, Education and Inclusion Committee, we have worked nurture inclusion and belonging across Ardsley schools. The DEI BOOM (Books and Other Media) Club gathered the community for conversations about equity in New York public schools, celebrated multicultural holidays and partnered with other DEI organizations for special events across Westchester.

We partner with members of the Rivertown Parents, a consortium of the PTSAs of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, Irvington and Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow. Together, our parent education speaker series have included topics such as:

  • Navigating Life's Ups and Downs with DBT
  • Beyond High School: Timelines, Options, Tools
  • Disordered Eating: What to Know, What to Do

Special Events

We host special events all year long to bring our community closer together.

  • Be a part of Ardsley Cares Day as hundreds of families join in a day of giving back
  • Cheer on the Ardsley All-Stars as they take on the Harlem Wizards
  • Show your kids the world during International Day
  • Support our students socio-emotional well-being with Wellness Week events across all three schools
  • And more! Come volunteer and reach out to us with any questions at info@ardsleyptsa.org
